Injectable Dermal Fillers

As we age, collagen and hyaluronic in the dermis — the support structure of the skin — decrease, while  elastic fibres loosen and clump, creating wrinkles and folds.

Dermal fillers are injected deep into the skin to fill out lines and enhance facial contours and lips in a natural-looking way. They also correct sunken eyes, creases, and scars.

At Reviva Laser Skin Clinic, we only use natural dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid in gel form:

  • Juvéderm
  • Restylane
  • Volbella

Hyaluronic acid exists naturally in the skin and does not require sensitivity tests. It is eventually broken down and reabsorbed by the body. Compared with permanent (silicone) fillers, hyaluronic acid provides results that are natural-looking, natural-feeling, and long-lasting.

A new dermal filler we now offer is Sculptra, which is based on natural fruit acids. Read about Sculptra here.

At Reviva, Dr. Ngai believes in the importance of natural-looking beauty — no one has to know if you’ve had help!

FAQ

Q: What are Restylane and Juvéderm?

A: Both Restylane and Juvéderm® are hyaluronic acid in the form of viscoelastic gel. This clear gel is created through biosynthesis and is not derived from animal/animal products (vegan friendly!). It does not require patch tests and is highly biocompatible.

Q: What is Volbella?

A: Volbella is a dermal filler engineered for plump, youthful lip. Made in France, this filler combats the thinning and creasing that occur to lips with age.

Q: How long do effects last?

A: Dermal fillers last between 6 to 9 months, sometimes longer. This depends on the skin type, treatment area, and amount injected.

Q: Where can Restylane or Juvéderm be injected?

A: Both can be used for perioral lines, naso-labial folds, oral commissures, cheek wrinkles, and thin lips.

Q: What are the side effects?

A: Redness, edema, and pain in the injection site may develop but generally disappear within 72 hours. Occasionally, hardening in the form of nodules, sometimes accompanied by redness, may develop a few days or weeks after the treatment.

Q: Who should not use Restylane and Juvéderm?

A: If you are hypersensitive to hyaluronic acid, have a compromised immune system, or are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should not have Restylane and Juvéderm injections.

Q: What precautions should I take after Restylane and Juvéderm injections?

A: Avoid extreme temperatures (e.g. saunas) and UV light in the days following your dermal filler treatment.
