A: The GentleYag laser creates a beam of high intensity light that penetrates deeply into the dermis where it causes a deep heating of tissues and contraction of the skin. The laser beam is preceded by a short burst of cooling cryogen spray which protects the outer skin and makes the treatment comfortable.

A: A fractional laser has the unique ability to treat small islands of skin on a surface, leaving intact skin in between these so-called microthermal zones (MTZ). The idea is that the untreated skin can facilitate the epithelialization or healing of the MTZ’s. That translate to a shorter recovery time as well as a reduction the chance of complications such as scarring, infection and pigmentary changes.

A: Aramis is a non-invasive laser:Glass laser system with a wavelength of 1,540 nm. This wavelength deeply penetrates the skin and unleashes its full effect in the deeper skin layers. The skin surface is undamaged. The treatment is virtually free of side-effects and reliably achieves long-lasting results.

A: You and the attending physician or laser technician will wear protective eyewear during the short laser treatment. The technician will use a small hand-held wand to deliver the laser pulses to the targeted area and you will feel a cold probe touch your skin. This contact cooling protects the upper layer of the skin during each laser pulse.

A: Absolutely. Old high-energy and highly-ablative Erbium resurfacing lasers results take weeks to heal and are too aggressive and painful for most patients. The unique lower power and longer pulse length of our laser is a radical departure from previous Erbium ablative resurfacing lasers.
The Reviva Dry Laser Peel is positioned between basic MicroDermabrasion or Intense Pulsed Light and the more extreme and expensive surgical lifts, strong TCA chemical peels and ablative resurfacing lasers.

A: Both IPL and lasers use the same principle to remove unwanted pigment on the skin. IPL emits multiple wavelengths of light, while lasers emit light of a single wavelength. For instance, IPL emits light consisting of wavelengths between 515-1200nm, while a laser might only emit light at 532nm.

A. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

DermaKinetics is a patented technology that allows skin care professionals to deliver powerful peptides into the skin. Until now, larger molecules such as collagen have been unable to be delivered through the skin’s barriers without being injected or ablating the skin. DermaKinetics enables the delivery of collagen to the very places where it occurs naturally, restoring its levels that have been diminished over time by sun exposure, pollution and the forces of nature.

A: The use of ultrasound and electric stimulation have received recent wide spread publicity as atandalone and adjunctive therapy for a variety of application in aesthetic skin rejuvenation. Smartsound technology combines these two modalities (ie. BioBlend) to rejuvenate the skin and accelerate skin repair after laser treatment and chemical peels.

Smartsound generates ultrasonic waves that effectively penetrate deep into the skin. With a frequency of 2.2Hz and a high power source (much higher than any hand held device), heat is generated at the dermal layer of the skin where collagen and elastin fibers are located. The ultrasound waves cause the molecules to undergo oscillation in cycles of contraction and expansion. The heat generated by the oscillation stimulates cellular activities in the dermis which in turn brings about the synthesis of more supportive molecules and ground substances that are beneficial for skin rejuvenation and cellular repair.

The electric aspect of the device does not generate any heat but it helps to deliver electric charged skin care products into the skin. The electric probe in the Smartsound device can act as a positive or negative electrode depending on the products that one uses.

A: Your face is gently but thoroughly washed and toned in preparation. Ultra fine crystals are projected to the surface of your skin, which remove environmental pollutants and dead and dying cells from the outer region of the skin called the epidermis. The tiny crystals and exfoliated skin are vacuumed back through the hand–held wand to a waste canister. At Reviva, we use baking soda as the preferred abrasive particle to minimize any skin irritation and the potential hazard of using aluminum chloride crystals.

A: Both Restylane and Juvéderm are hyaluronic acid in the form of viscoelastic gel, which is transparent and homogeneous. It is obtained by biosynthesis and is of non-animal origin. It does not require prior skin testing and the molecule is highly biocompatible.
